After a five year streak of posting at least once a year, or attempting to, I guess I missed a year. Life. 🤷‍♂️

As with last time, I guess I'm here for one reason, and one reason only. That is to say, this little guy just turned 18.

18 years ago, one city to the east.

It's also the solstice. Feels auspicious.

I missed a recap of a pretty eventful year. And 2025 is shaping up to be more wild than I could've ever imagined. I'll have to carve out some real time soon.

UPDATE, JUNE 22ND

I shouldn't have said M's 18th birthday falling on the solsitce felt auspicious. His birthday present was an evening Twins game with three of his long-time neighbor friends—the OGs, as he likes to call them—during which he got to watch his team get absolutely destroyed by the Brewers in a 17-6 rout.

Then, later in the evening, our kakistocratic commander-in-chief threw us into another war in the Middle East. (Um.)

There was also a third thing, but that won't be recounted here. Nuts.

///

L and I fully intended to root for M's team, but we both involuntarily went full-native for the Brewers the moment the game began. Although, as the runs started to get out of control, we did start to feel bad about it. (Good thing we sat 10 sections away from M and his friends.)

They left early. I suppose this was an imporant lesson if he intends to be a Minnesota sports fan.

///

M, after we got home: "I got to celebrate my first day as an adult by suffering a crippling loss." Welcome to adulthood, my dear son. Hopefully there'll be more ups than downs.
