Journal for 3 February 2006

Three separate items pretty much sum up why this has been a rather annoying week. On Monday, I accidentally mangled my cell phone’s power cord in the paper shredder. It’s a long story, and details probably aren’t necessary.

This morning, a decision to take a local parkway to avoid a snow-related backup resulted in me getting stuck behind a car that was unable to get up an incredibly slippery hill. Another motorist and I had to get out and help push the car to the top. I subsequently managed to get my car up the hill—slowly—but was unable to pull away from a backsloping intersection a few minutes later. The same motorist who helped me push the first car then proceeded to push mine.

About a half hour after the hill incident, I almost got killed by a careening pickup in a parking lot. Four wheel drive doesn’t help you stop, dumbass.

Lots of quotes to pass along tonight. I may regret some of them.

~~~
“I really wonder about your memory sometimes,” she said.
“That’s why I write everything down.”
“At least you remember me.”
“Yeah, you open the door, and I’m like ‘Hey, I remember you. We fuck!’” A half minute passed. “And I love you, too.”
“I’m glad you added that.”
~~~

A half hour later, we were at Big Bowl, which was a mistake.

“Is everything as good as it looks?”

“Unfortunately, yes.”

~~~
“You know, I can make the name ‘Big Bowl’ sound really gross.”
“How’s that?”
“Imagine an Asian woman squatting over a big bowl.”
“Why did you have to say that?”
“Sometimes I think if I didn’t say these things my brain would explode.”
“I’ll have to remember that.”
~~~

“I don’t know,” I said, “these kind of push the boundaries of what I usually write here.”

“Hey, if you can’t push boundaries on your site, where can you push them?”
