Journal for 5 February 2006

Aside from a few hours at work on Saturday, it was kind of a lazy weekend. We decided to go the pizza-and-a-movie Saturday night, which sounded like a good idea. Unfortunately, the pizza was Davanni’s, which apparently isn’t as good as it used to be, and the movie was I Heart Huckabees, which could charitably be described as “tepid.”

Today was a bit more interesting. After grabbing an oversized breakfast the Uptown, we wandered around Lake of the Isles and watched skiers navigating the last few miles of the City of Lakes Loppet. It’s kind of depressing that they had to make snow for this year’s course, but at least the weather stayed cold this time around. We also talked to the Realtor showing one of the neighboring units in our building and learned that two of the other units had sold. So, after three months of having the place to ourselves, we’ll now have neighbors.

I hope having neighbors turns out to be a good thing. With a four-unit building, things could go either way: We could end up having a good community that gets along well and actually does things together, or we could have people who sound like cattle and approach the condo association like a contact sport.

We should know within a month. Fingers crossed…

  1. I Heart Hucakbees must be watched in a theatre with someone who can make it entertaining with comments that would, at any other movie, by obnoxious. I went with a friend whose thought process is best described as “sporadic” and I think he saved the movie for a theatre full of people.
